Centaurus Ice Skating Club
My role as Graphic Designer For Canterbury Ice Figure Skating club
In 2022 the Centaurus Ice Skating Club sought out a graphic designer who was already in the skating community to take over roles in the club that was designer focused. After viewing my work they approached me as asked about my interest in the role.
With them, I attended all club meetings and take down notes of what the club is looking for each month, during competition season and after.
When I started with them I was designing new badges for the learn to skate levels, this involved talking to the kids in the session to ask what interested them, as well as the other coaches.
After that, I took on the role of creating their new website as their old one had become outdated with information and images of skaters. I moved them from Wix and onto Squarespace and they welcomed their new website with the skaters. https://centaurusiceskatingclub.com/.
Updating the club website
The board members at Centaurus decided after six years that they needed someone who would update and maintain their club website. After hearing what they needed I offered myself and my knowledge to them.
With their suggestions I created a website that is more visitor and skater friendly, making sure the links on the website were useable. New members are able to join as well as old members finding resources they might need over the season.
As well I make sure updated images of the skaters are regularly rotated onto the website, most images I have taken myself.
I also maintain their private Instagram account for the skaters.
2024 season design work
For this season I continued my use of only using skaters who belong to the club on the posters. This imagery I got from taking my own photos at the previous years competition and the early season alpine competition. I then draw over those images in my own style of art to produce stunning drawings of the skaters.

I am also working on Nationals 2024 as it is the first time since 2015 that Centaurus has hosted the national Championships

New Group Mascots
At Alpine Ice ice there is a Kiwi Skate program run by figure skating coaches who have been trained by the national standard.
At the program, we have different levels of progression for both adult classes and children classes. However, in out child classes, these levels are represented by badges and colours.
I was asked by one of the club board members to design new mascots for them, ones that are more appealing and fun for the kids while also matching in style.
